About Our Family Company

In 1957 Ivan Gibbs and Bert Wilson founded at Labrador (now Arundel) on the Gold Coast, what is today Gibbs Truck & Trailer Parts (GTTP). It was primarily a truck and car wrecking yard, but business focus changed to supplying the needs of valued customers in the trucking industry.

It later became a Gibbs family business and was taken over in 1980 by the current owners, Chris and Paul Gibbs. They continue to be hands-on operators, fully involved on a daily basis with all aspects of the business.

GTTP closed the truck wrecking operation in 1997 in order to meet the growing needs of customers for "new" parts with full manufacturers warranty. The transmission, differential and drive shaft repair operations, which developed from the very early "truck wrecking" days, continued to grow with all work carried out on a "bench" basis.

During 2000 GTTP's transmission and differential repair product range was increased to include  European vehicles including Mercedes Benz, Volvo, Scania, Renault and ZF.

In October 2000 GTTP opened a second Gold Coast outlet at Burleigh Heads, complete with a full drive shaft repair shop.

A new company, Gibbs Parts Pty Ltd, was formed in 2002 to operate a specialist "Truck Parts" outlet at Rocklea. This outlet specializes in parts to suit Japanese trucks. as well as European and American models.

In March 2003, Gibbs Traders Pty Ltd (GTTP) at Arundel was appointed the Gold Coast "parts and service" dealer for Daimler-Chrysler Commercial Vehicles, Freightliner Trucks and Sterling Trucks. At the same time a vehicle service facility was opened at Arundel alongside our existing drive train repair and parts centre.

Following the successful start up of Gibbs Parts Pty Ltd at Rocklea, a second Brisbane parts outlet was established at Hemmant in 2005. Also in 2005, the Gibbs Parts Pty Ltd at Rocklea and Hemmant increased their range of product to also include semi trailer parts and equipment. They were appointed stockists for TMC Australia Pty Ltd, a leading manufacturer, importer and supplier of semi trailer axles, suspensions and landing legs.

GTTP gives full acknowledgement to the excellent support of first class staff members who over the years have worked to develop GTTP into a successful Australian family company.
